These photos were taken with a simple Kodak digital camera. Immediately after the rain had stopped and the fog had parted, I saw this glorious side of nature. What my eyes beheld........I couldn't capture with the camera...that's the sadness I felt then.

Towards Modernisation

Pakhribas has an NTC telecommunication tower as well as an Ncell telecommunication tower. The internet users are increasing day by day. Just some years ago a mobile phone used to be out of reach for the common people but as we have seen, these days due to the upsurge in Chinese products and the competition among cell phone manufacturers, almost everyone in Nepal has a mobile phone. The kids are busy uploading pics in their Facebook account and chatting away with their friends in Mig33, the most popular social networks around here.

Beware all those who have been lighting up their streetlights illegally!!!!
We have been hearing that the new government is penalizing those who have been using electricity illegally.  It was sure that people who used electricity as they liked, cooking food and even running mills with stolen electricity, would be punished by Baburam, the new prime minister!!!! It is shameful that the leaders and the their people are involved in unlawful actions due to the lack of Constitution!!!! Most streetlights within Nepal fall within this category, there is no need for payment nor any inquisition...just join the lines to a pole and There you go!! The streets get lighted!! The government could give some concession for such lights as they are involved in the welfare of the society but would that be possible in a country where the people have to face minimum 8 hours of load shedding everyday???!!??

Aringal !!!!!!!!!!!!

The ball atop the tree is deadly if not handled properly! Commonly known as अरिंगाल (Aringal).....hornets(or yellow jackets?) are known for their notorious sting and delicious larva....YUMMY!!!!!!! The local hunters burn down the nest with a flame attached to a long pole and after the ferocious adults are burned, the combs are torn open and the larva taken out. Before pulling out the white larva, it is made sure that all the mature ones are dead by dipping the nest in a bucket of boiling water. The larva can be eaten raw !!!! When cooked, it has the taste that makes you forget the distaste you had before trying. Highly nutritious with protein, local people believe that the larva is an aphrodisiac and works better than Viagra !!! 

But you better be careful if you have noticed a nest nearby coz there have been many deaths due to multiple stings from Black hornets... they are dangerous,unlike the red ones....Happy Hunting!!!! Hehehehe

Gupha Pokhari

 

Situated at 2890 metres above sea level, Gupha Pokhari is a pilgrimage destination for the Hindus of Eastern Nepal. The view of Kanchenjunga is awe inspiring and the sacred pond is never said to have been cluttered with the leaves of the trees which we see in the photo.  A great place to visit; the long trek from Basantapur along the jungles with diverse species of rhododendrons might tire you but still the beauty of this place heals away the weariness of the long journey. Most pilgrims move onto ward to Pathivara Temple, Taplejung from here................................................................

नेपाली कांग्रेस द्वारा भोलि नेपाल बन्द को आब्वाहन गरिएको छ / खोइ कुन चै नेता को परमधाम भएछ !!! थाहा भएन !!! नेपालका राजनीतिक पार्टी का मान्छेहरु कति शक्तिशाली छन् यस बाट प्रमाणित हुन्छ/ देश नै बन्द गरेर चै के प्रमाणित गर्न खोजेका हुन् त्यो चै बुझ्न गार्हो छ / भोलि नेपाल मा सबै यातायात का साधन, शैक्षिक्  संस्था, पसल हरु बन्द हुनेछन... त्यसको लागि कांग्रेस का नेता हरुले आफ्ना कार्यकर्ताहरुलाई उर्दी जारी गरिसकेका छन् / शान्तिपूर्ण बन्द हुनेछ भोलि ..... त्यै नेताहरु जो संबिधान का लागि केई बोल्दैनन तिनै नेताहरु ले भोलि चर्का चर्का नाराहरु लगाउने छन्/  नेपाल मा पार्टीहरुको राज छ , पार्टी का कार्यकर्ता हरुको राज छ , अन्योल को राज छ/ नेपाल मा लोकतन्त्र छ, जसले शक्ति देखायो तेस्को राज छ अहिलेसम्म ..... तन्त्र छ लोक निदाई राखेको छ / नेपाल का आधा मान्छे हरु सुतेका छन् अनि आधि उठेका मान्छेहरु नेता भएका छन्/  पार्टी हरु आफ्ना कार्यकर्ता हरुलाई कुटपिट , अपहरण अनि हत्या भयो भने मात्रै जुर्मुराएर उठछन् अनि नेपाल बन्द गर्छन/ नेता हरुले संबिधान बनाउन नसकेकोमा अहिलेसम्म नेपाल बन्द भएको छैन, कुनै पनि नेता  अहिलेसम्म अयोग्य घोसित भएको प्रमाण छैन / नेपाल मा सर्ब साधारण ले कहिले पनि नेपाल बन्द गर्न सक्दैन... पार्टी हरुको देखासिकी मा चक्का जाम चै गर्छन/ 

भोलि वार्ता हुन्छ जसरि यो भन्दा अगाडी पनि धेरै वार्ता हरु भएका थिए अनि कुनै मान्छेलाई सहिद घोसना गरिनेछ अनि मृतक को परिवार ले १०००००० रुपैया पाउनेछ/ दस लाख रुपैयाको लागि देश मा दस करोडको घाटा भएपनि कसैलाई बाल नै भो!!! हामीलाई आफ्नो पहुच देखाउनुछ , हाम्रो पार्टीको शक्ति देखाउनु छ / भोलि नेपाल मा अर्को एक नया सहिद थपिनेछ....... देशको इतिहास मा नया आयाम थपिनेछ / केटा केटि हरुको लागि बिद्यालय छुट्टि भएको ले रमाइलो हुनेछ अनि उनि हरुले सायद प्रार्थना पनि गर्लान एसरी नै सहिद हरु बढीरहुन  नेपालमा!!!!! 

TWO BUILDINGS

    The above is the oldest educational facility of Pakhribas VDC. Shree Jalapa Devi Higher Secondary School built with the contributions from Mr. Horace Kadoorie (Switzerland). The school runs +2 classes on Education, Commerce and Science streams and has CTEVT affiliated technical branch with sub-overseer courses.

The lower building is the newly constructed Office for Area Police Station(IPK), Pakhribas.
